1
QUARTERLY GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY
' FIRST QUARTER 1993
' 1.0 INTRODUCTION
On behalf of the San Joaquin County Human Services Agency and San Joaquin County Capitol
' Projects Division, ROY F. WESTON, INC (WESTON®) is pleased to submit this quarterly
groundwater monitoring report for the first quarter 1993 The program has been mandated by
the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (EHD) for the
' purpose of determining the distribution of hydrocarbon compounds in groundwater beneath and
the vicinity of the Human Services Agency building located at 145 South Sutter Street in
downtown Stockton (Figure 1) In addition, the monitoring program provides data on
' groundwater physical parameters of temperature, electrical conductivity and pH, as well as
groundwater elevations and flow direction in the area
' 2.0 GROUNDWATER MONITORING SUMMARY
The first quarter 1993 monitoring program was conducted on April 15 and 16, 1993 The
' sampling date was behind schedule due to logistical problems in finding a suitable location for
the 550-gallon purge water tank The tank was eventually placed in the parking lot next to the
San Joaquin County Courthouse located at 222 East Weber Avenue, Stockton
A total of seven weIIs (MW-2 through MW-8) are monitored under this program (Figure 2)
MW-1 is not part of the monitoring program because it is no longer present on the site, having
' been plugged and abandoned prior to construction of the Human Services building Monitoring
wells MW-2 and MW-3 were originally completed in an upper aquifer zone and have been dry
for the past several years These wells were dry during the first quarter monitoring event,
' however, they will be sounded each quarter and sampled if they are found to contain water
The monitoring program consisted of two aspects 1) field measurement of groundwater
I physical parameters and 2) collection and analysis of water samples for specific analytes Two
quality control samples were also collected One field duplicate sample (coded MW-10) was
taken from Well MW-7 as a check on laboratory reproductibility and one sample (coded MW-
11) was taken of equipment decontamination rinse water after sampling MW-7 to evaluate the
field decontamination procedures A detailed description of the field activities is presented in
the attached Field Report, Appendix A.
I2.1 Physical Parameters Summary
' Field measurement of physical parameters consisted of recording groundwater elevation,
temperature, pH and electrical conductivity These data are presented in Table 1
%TK\RPr51S147 IST WP l 05116193
