i
s
07 May 2009
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0343
database; confirmation numbers are 8318686246 and 6202059090.
3.2. FIELD EVIDENCE OF HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL
Hydrocarbon odor was noted the total depth of confirmation boring P 1,and slight hydrocarbon odor
was noted at depths of 5 feet and 25 feet bsg in confirmation boring P2. Organic vapor(confirmed
with the PID) was encountered in boring P1 at depths between 10 feet and 50 feet bsg at
concentrations as high as 227 parts per million volume (ppmv); organic vapor was encountered in
boring P2 at depths of 5 feet and 25 feet bsg at concentrations of 0.1 ppmv. Hydrocarbon odor and
organic vapor observations are noted on the boring logs in Appendix B.
3.3. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
A total of seven and ten soil samples were analyzed from borings P1 and P2, respectively.
Constituents were not reported at or below detection limits in the samples analyzed from P2.
TPH-g were reported at depths of 10 feet, 20 feet, 25 feet, and 30 feet bsg in boring P1 at
concentrations ranging between 33 milligrams per kilogram(mg/kg;P1-10)and 920 mg/kg(P 1-20).
TPH-d were reported at depths of between 10 feet and 30 feet bsg in boring P1 at concentrations
ranging between 70 mg/kg (P1-15) and 7,800 mg/kg (P1-25).
No additional target analytes, including BTEX and 1,2-DCA, were reported at or below detection
limits in the samples analyzed. Soil sample analytical results are summarized in Table 1;
comparisons of analytical results from pre-remediation and post-remediation soil samples within the
former UST area(P1, B5, MW-1, and MW-9) and south of the former UST area(P2, B1, B3, and
MW-2) are summarized in Table 2. The laboratory report (CTEL Project ID CT214-0904114),
quality assurance and quality control(QA/QC)and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix
C. The laboratory electronic data file (EDF) was uploaded to the State Geotracker database; the
confirmation number is 2690178990.
3.4. MASSNOLUME CALCULATIONS
Remaining adsorbed hydrocarbon masses were determined based on analytical results of soil samples
collected from soil borings advanced during site assessment activities. The current mass and volume
estimates represent data collected following active soil remediation.
