Inc, (AGE) and has the following comments.
The report documents routine quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling activities, and
routine operation and maintenance activities of the soil vapor extraction (SVE) remediation system
that were performed during third quarter 2OUR.
The SVE system began operation atthe site inJanuary 2UOG. Influent air samples have been
collected several times each month and submitted for chemical analysis, except for September
2O06.the final month ofthe third quarter reporting period. Concentrations ofcontaminants inthe
air samples have fluctuated over the 8 months reported, but generally are declining. Reported
concentrations of contaminants in the groundwater samples have also declined since the SVE
system began operation. The Report recommends continued operation ofthe SVEsystem and
continued quarterly groundwater monitoring of the shallow groundwater monitoring wells.
SJC/EHDagrees with the recommendation tocontinue operation ofthe SVEaystemm. As proposed
in the approved |nbahnn Remedial Action P|mn, monthly sampling of the influent and effluent air
streams must beperformed onthe SVEsystem. Routine quarterly groundwater monitoring and
sampling must continue until notified differently from this agency. Due tothe highly fluctuating
groundwater elevation at this site, two sets of monitoring wells that can be used to monitor and
sample the shallow groundwater have been installed. SJC/EHDrecommends continued use of
wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 when there is sufficient water in them to complete an appropriate
purge and collect esample. Ifthe groundwater elevation drops below the screened interval of
these wells, monitoring wells MW-9, MW-1 0, MW-1 1 and MW-1 2 can be used to collect samples
representative ofthe shallow groundwater. Sampling ofdeep monitoring well K8VV-8and lateral
wells MW-4, MW-5, MW-6 and MW-7 may be switched to an annual sampling schedule.
Ifyou have any questions please call Lori Duncan et(2Q8)4G8-0337.
Donna Henan, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Lori Duncan, 8enio/REH8 Nuel C.
