PUBLIC HtALTH SERVI C
owb
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H., Health Officer
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor - Stockton, CA 95202
209/468-3420
PETER LENZ JUN 1 9 2000
6465 PACIFIC AVE #134
STOCKTON CA 95207
RE: Howard Lenz Property SITE CODE: 2181
1648 Shaw Road
Stockton CA 95215
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has reviewed the "Quarterly Report— First Quarter 2000" dated June 6, 2000, that was
submitted by Advanced GeoEnvi ron mental, Inc. (AGE) on behalf of the above
referenced site and has the following comments.
The report documents the February 2000 installation of three dual completed wells and
one soil boring. The dual completed wells have two casings in each boring, one
screened to be a groundwater monitoring well (MW)and one screened to be a vapor
extraction well (VW). The monitoring wells were developed and sampled in March 2000.
Data collected from this site to date suggests that the core of the petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination in soil extends to approximately 30-feet below surface grade (bsg)
vertically, and is bounded laterally by soil borings B-2, B-4, B-6 and MW-3. Results of
the monitoring well sample analyses indicate that the vertical and lateral extent of the
contaminant plume in water has not been defined.
Quarterly groundwater monitoring should continue at this site until further notice from
PHS/EHD. Please prepare a work plan to define the vertical and lateral extent of the
groundwater contaminant plume and submit it to PHS/EHD by July 31, 2000. If you
have any questions or comments please call Lori Duncan at(209)468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Marga etLagorAio, REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor, Unit IV
cc: Marty Hartzell, CVRWQCB
Bob Marty, AGE
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
