ENVIROMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT REPORT <br /> CALAMCO STOCKTON TERMINAL <br /> Port of Stockton Roads G & 15 <br /> Stockton, California <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> The subject property is the California Ammonia Company (CALAMCO) Stockton Terminal. The <br /> terminal is a cooperative outlet for farm and commercial grade ammonia. It is located within the <br /> Port of Stockton East Complex at Port Roads G and 15 in Stockton,California(Figures 1 and 2). <br /> The investigative work described within this report is in response to an agency directive for the <br /> collection of groundwater samples (Notice of Violation dated July 16, 2003). The purpose of the <br /> required assessment work is to evaluate the impact of ammonia on local groundwater due to the <br /> April 18, 2003 accidental spill of approximately 5,500 gallons of ammonia hydroxide. <br /> On behalf of CALAMCO, a work plan was prepared by WGR, Southwest, Inc. (WGR) on August <br /> 28, 2003. The final work plan was approved by Mr. George W. Lockwood of the Central Valley <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) on September 12, 2003. Assessment work <br /> was initiated on the project on October 8, 2003. This report summarizes the investigation that was <br /> conducted in accordance with the approved work plan. <br /> 2.0 SITE SETTING <br /> The site is located within the Port of Stockton East Complex, which is an industrial area adjacent <br /> to the Stockton Deep Water Channel. The property is owned by the Port of Stockton and is <br /> leased to CALAMCO. The facility consists of an off-loading dock(at Berth#8),tank farm, truck <br /> loading rack, and cold storage facility. Anhydrous ammonia and urea ammonia nitrate are <br /> received at Berth #8, transferred to the facility by pipeline, and stored in two 20,000-ton steel <br /> aboveground storage tanks and one 3,000-ton steel aboveground storage tank, respectively. <br /> 725.PRI.00 Page 1 December 4,2003 <br />
