Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
Pacific Bell UE042
345 North San Joaquin Street
Stockton, California 95202
Dear Ms. Maeys:
In March 1993, IT Corporation filed an: "Off-Site Investigation Report" with your office for
the above referenced site. This report summarized investigative results to date and
acknowledged that although diesel impacted soils remain beneath the site building, no
evidence of migration of the diesel has been encountered in on-site wells or off-site borings.
A letter from your office dated June 1, 1993 indicated that an investigation to examine the
extent of diesel impacted soils beneath the site building must.be conducted. -Based on site
conditions, the completion-of this proposed investigation would require employing extreme
measures to complete. Drilling in a confined space (basement) can induce overtly hazardous
working conditions. As no evidence of diesel migration has been noted to date, it does not
appear that these extreme measures are warranted at this time. ;
Pacific Bell has reinstituted quarterly well sampling activities at this site. If quarterly
analytical results indicate the migration of diesel fuel has occurred, then the
necessity/feasibility of sub-basement soils remediation will be further addressed at that time.
July quarterly results will be available on July 3.0, 1993.
I
I,
Regional Office
4585 Pacheco Boulevard .Martinez, California 94553 •510-372-9100
IT Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of.International Tecbnology Corporation
