2.3 Soil Sample Analysis <br /> All soil samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as diesel and <br /> benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylenes (BTEX) by EPA methods 8015 and 8020 <br /> respectively The sample containing the greatest diesel concentration and/or the deepest <br /> sample per borehole will be additionally analyzed by the California Waste Extraction Test <br /> (WET) for TPH (Title 22, CCR, 66261 100, Appendix 11) One select soil sample only will <br /> be analyzed for total organic carbon by EPA method 415 1 One representative sample will be <br /> tested for grain size distribution by sieve analysis <br /> In the event that any soil cuttings are generated during drilling, a composite sample will be <br /> collected and analyzed for reactivity, conrosivity and ignitability (Title 22) to facilitate <br /> disposal <br /> Method detection limits will follow those defined in the Leaking Underground Fuel Tank <br /> (LUFT) Manual, March 1989, and the Regional Water Quality Control Boards (RWQCB) <br /> r "Tri Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of <br /> l Underground Tank Sites," August 1990, where applicable <br /> Upon arrival to the laboratory, the samples' condition will be checked and any <br /> nonconformaties will be noted Copies of signed laboratory reports and sample condition <br /> forms will be presented in the subsequent Soils Investigation Report <br /> l <br /> 2.4 Well Construction <br /> Vadose zone observation wells will be installed in the two soil borings The wells will be <br /> constructed using one inch schedule 80 PVC pipe and 0 02 inch slotted PVC well screen <br /> The screen length in each well is anticipated to be 25 feet with a total well depth of 30 feet <br /> The field geologist will determine the depth of each well based on field conditions and will <br /> determine any special procedures required to manage unusual or anomalous conditions <br /> Lonestar sand #3 will be used to fill the annular space surrounding the well screens, from the <br /> well base to one foot above the top of the screen Each well will be sealed using a one foot <br /> thickness of 3/8 inch bentonite pellets, followed by a portland cement slurry to within six <br /> inches of the basement floor Tightly fitted locking caps, protected by flush mounted curb <br />{� boxes will be used to prevent tampering (Figure 5) <br /> MZJ05-11-94JUST194-0067 nbr 2_3 <br />
