2.D Plan of Action IT plans to perform the soils investigation at the Pacific Bell facility located at 345 North San Joaquin road in Stockton, California, in order to further characterize soil quality beneath the abandoned underground storage tank locations. The investigation has the following goals ' 1 Further examine the vertical distribution of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil near the abandoned tank locations 2 Provide for future observation of vadose zone soil conditions as necessary 3 Evaluate all results and recommend any further action at the site that may be ' warranted. 4 Coordinate all field work with Pacific Bell as well as local and regional regulatory agencies To accomplish these goals, IT plans to drill four soil borings (Figure 4) The soil boring locations were identified to examine the distribution of petroleum hydrocarbons near the abandoned diesel tank locations To facilitate future observation of vadose zone soil conditions, observation wells will be installed in each open borehole Where applicable, field investigation methods will follow the Th-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigations of Underground Storage Tank Sites, 10 August 1990 The following section describes the procedures that will be used in completing the investigation 2.1 Drilling Methodology IT will notify Underground Services Alert (USA) at least two working days before starting any drilling activities This, in addition to studying utility maps and the contracting of an independent line locating service, will help insure that drilling activities will not encounter ' any underground utilities A concrete saw will be used to core 4" diameter holes in the basement floor to facilitate access to the subsurface.
