. Mr Harlin Knoll
July 30, 1999
Page 2
The three wells were constructed with 10-feet of two-inch diameter polyvinyl chloride
(PVC)well screen and two-inch diameter PVC blank casing Based on the actual well
depths, the well casing volume was calculated to ensure that a sufficient volume of grout
was pumped into each well to fill the entire casing, penetrate the sand pack, and invade
the formation soils Approximately 27 4 to 35 3 gallons of grout were pumped into each
well These actual grout volumes exceeded the well volumes by 19 9 to 27 5 gallons,
confirming successful penetration of the sand pack and formation soils The well
construction details and grout volume calculations are summarized in the attached table
The groundwater standing in the well (approximately 3 0 to 4 0 gallons per well) was
displaced by the grout out the top of the well and contained in five-gallon buckets,
screened olfactorily for petroleum odor, and removed from the site by V&W Drilling
V&W Drilling removed each of the wellhead street boxes and restored the surface
pavement with ready-mix concrete, finished to grade
Under separate cover, Ramage Environmental has sent to the California Department of
Water Resources, Well Completion Reports recording the abandonment of the wells
Copies of the Well Completion Reports are attached
iThank you for your assistance on this project If you have questions or need any
additional information, please call me at (916) 354-3250 -
' O GFp
Sincerely,
RAMAGE ENVIRONMENTAL
© G'
,.
