5.0 Identification of Sensitive Recep tors
' A survey was conducted to identify potential sensitive receptors to impacted groundwater to the
vicinity of the site The survey included a review of all surface water bodies and groundwater
wells within a %Z mile radius of the site
t
5.1 Groundwater WeU Survey
On January 8, 1997, a groundwater well survey was conducted at the offices of the Department
of Water Resources (DWR) located in Sacramento, California to determine the proximity and
' construction of groundwater wells located within a % mile radius of the Former Fabricare site A
total of fourteen (14) wells were recorded in the DWR files Twelve of the fourteen wells exist
' and two have been abandoned The known location of existing wells are shown on Figure 4
Well construction information for the wells is summarized in Table 4 and the DWR Water Well
' Drillers Reports are included in Appendix C The nearest groundwater well is approximately
1,000 feet north (upgradzent) of the site The static water level in the wells was recorded at
' between 65 feet and 120 feet bgs
5.2 Surface Water Body Survey
Review of the U S G S topographic quadrangle map (Figure 1) indicates the presence of one
' surface water body in the vicinity of the Former Fabncare site An intermittent stream, Mormon
Slough, makes up the northern boarder of the site Mormon Slough originates from the eastern
portion of the Port of Stockton and flows to the east
6.0 Conclusions
Work performed during the fourth quarter of 1996 included the monitoring and sampling of the
three on-site monitoring wells and the review of potential sensitive receptors in the site vicinity
Since the last monitoring event in September 1996, groundwater elevations have dropped an
average of 2 03 feet Groundwater flow was determined to be in a southerly direction at a
' gradient of 0 07 foot/foot Two of the three groundwater samples collected during the quarter
did not contain detectable concentrations of gasoline hydrocarbons The groundwater sample
collected from MW-2 did contain 250,ug/L of TPH-gasoline The analytical results from this
quarter represent a decrease in petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in MW-1, MW-2, and
MW-3 since the last sampling event
4
