1
h
• PROPOSED GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION/SAMPLING
f
To determine whether groundwater has been adversely impacted in the vicinity of either the
gasoline tank excavation or the two underground diesel tanks that we are currently trying to
close, AEMC proposes that groundwater monitoring wells be placed in the downgradient
direction and in close proximity to both the gasoline tank excavation and the two diesel tanks.
To determine the downgradient groundwater direction, three monitoring wells will be
i installed in close proximity to the gasoline tank excavation See Figure 6 for the location of
l
the initial three monitoring wells The top of casing elevation for each of the three
monitoring wells will be determined using standard surveying techruques Water level
measurements will be taken in each of the wells using a Solonist water sounder A 3-point
problem will then be solved to define the downgradient groundwater direction at that time
If one of the previously installed wells is in the downgradient groundwater direction from the
site of the former leaking underground gasoline fuel storage tank then one more well will be
installed in the downgradient direction and in close proximity to the two underground diesel
f tanks. If none of the initial wells installed are determined to be in the downgradient
groundwater flow direction from the former underground gasoline fuel storage tank, then two
additional groundwater monitoring wells will be installed One additional well will be
installed in close proximity to and downgradient from the site of the former lealang
underground gasoline fuel storage tank The other well will be installed in close proximity to
and downgradient from the two underground diesel storage tanks
GROUNDWATER QUALITY MONITORING WELL COMPLETION
When the desired borehole depth is reached, blank casing, screen, filter pack, and bentonite
l
seal will be installed in the hollow-stem auger string After installation of construction
materials, the hollow-stem auger string will be removed, leaving the completed groundwater
rl Lv_W.24) Page 19
