The background groundwater study report is to be prepared using existing
data, which should be both scientifically defensible and save the Navy money. The memorandum
includes a discussion of the wells and chemical analyses to be used in the background study, and briefly
discusses statistical methods that may be used in the analysis of the existing data.
As stated in our 30 May 2001 comments letter from review of the draft version of this memorandum, we
encourage the Navy to contact us should any questions arise during the data analysis and preparation of
the groundwater study report.
We have one minor editorial comment—Table 1, footnote c. The proposed list of wells to be included
in the background groundwater study is 93 as listed in Table 2, and not 103 as shown.
Please contact me at (916) 255-3078 or TalankS ,rb5s.swrcb.ca.Qov if you have any questions regarding
this matter.
Sudhakar Talanki, P.E.
Associate Water Resources Control Engineer
cc: Mr. Brad Beeman,NCTS, Stockton
California Environmental Protection Agency
a Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing California is real.
