Even though I was aware <br /> of the possible contamination problem ; with the terms I <br /> was offered along with a strong possibility that the City <br /> of Lodi might purchase his adjoining property and purchase- <br /> or_rent my property_f or, parking-only, .it _seemed like a _very , <br /> good deal at the time. Mr. Newfield indicated he would be <br /> happy to be receiving .my monthly payments rather than be <br /> getting nothing. <br /> tnfortunately my financial'-position has deteriorated to a minus <br /> net worth, and my income barely pays living expenses, which <br /> is why I cannot afford the meeting you are proposing.. <br /> Your office claims that I already ogre about $4000.00, all. .. <br /> apparently resulting from some agreement regarding a "Pilot <br /> Program" which Mr. Newfield was required to sign before <br /> The Gomes Construction Co. could proceed with their attempt <br /> to clean the property. If this had been sucessful I believe <br /> the City of Lodi would have purchased both parcels, and <br /> everybody would be payed .4nd happy. <br /> Mr. Newfield has said he cannot afford to spend any more <br /> money to clean up the property; which he had purchased. <br /> prior to the passage of the present laws repuiring contam- <br /> ination removal and since neither he nor I were in any way <br /> responsible for the contamination, neither of us feel <br /> morally obligated. <br /> A-s-much--as- I�would- appreciate%the--opportunity of-meet ng- <br /> with you I am currently working on a work furlough program. <br /> with the County Jail and your meeting could .cause problems <br /> If I tried to attend.
