ATTACHMENT # 1 SOIL BORING
Soil Boring Procedures
Soil borings will be drilled with a hollow stem flight
auger , equipped with a modified California split spoon sampler .
Where possible , samples will be taken in conjunction with a
Standard Penetration Test . All equipment will be - steam cleaned
before. each boring to prevent cross-contamination .
Samples will be taken every 5 ft . down to the saturated
zone , or 5 ft . into . a massive clay , or, 5 ft . below any evidence .
of contamination, based on field observation . Samples will be
encased in a brass liner , both ends sealed in aluminum foil,
capped , and placed in iced storage for transportation to a state ]
certified analytical laboratory . A- chain-of-custody document
will be maintained for all laboratory samples .
The soil borings will be logged by qualified geologic
person n e.l u n d e-r th_e—s_u-p.e r v.i.s i.o.n .o-f_-a—g-e-o 1-o-g i s-t--r a-g i s-t a-r-e-d in the-
. Logs will
be prepared of each boring.
If ground water is encountered in the soil borings , it will
be noted on the logs and °a sample will be taken by standard
bailing methods from within the hollow flight auger . It will be
placed in a glass vial with` a teflon seal and placed in. iced
storage for transportation toa state certified laboratory.
At the completion of the boring , it will be abandoner by
filling with a bentonite slurry and sealed with a cement Slug .
1
f
i
• I
- I
1
• 1
• i
CE
,I I
CONDOR EARTH TECHNOLOGIES
