The Workplan was prepared on behalf of Chevron by AMEC Geomatrix,
Inc. (AMEC).
The project is adjacent to the south, generally upgradient of the Tidewater Associated Oil
Company (TAOC) 6th Street Tracy Rail Yard (TRY) project site, in central Tracy. The Site
consists of some undeveloped parcels adjacent the west side of TAOC 6th Street project, but
primarily is within an area of single family residential development to the south.
As a result of investigations in 2005 associated with the TAOC 6th Street TRY project,
impacted soil and groundwater was identified at/near the southern project boundary. The
upgradient extent of impacts was not delineated on the southern part of the TRY onsite
project. Additional characterization is needed within the adjacent residential neighborhood to
evaluate the extent of affected soil/groundwater upgradient of the TRY project area. The
Workplan proposes drilling ten soil borings (South 1 to South 10) within the City of Tracy
residential streets to collect soil and groundwater samples for analysis of the petroleum
hydrocarbon chemicals of potential concern. Additional borings will be added if further soil
and/or groundwater sampling is needed.
According to AMEC's Workplan:
• Offset borings — South 1 will be drilled on the undeveloped land parcels adjacent to the
south part of TRY project; South 2, 3, and 4 will be drilled in 4th Street, along the north
side of the private residences. It is anticipated that borings will be completed to
approximately 25 feet below ground surface (bgs). Soil/groundwater samples will be
collected for analysis.
California Environmental Protection Agency
0a Recycled Paper
