LAW/CRANDALL, INC.
ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
July 18, 1994
J U L 2 0 1994
San Joaquin County Public Health Services ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Environmental Health Division PERMIT/SERVICES '
Site Mitigation
445 N. San Joaquin
Stockton, CA 95201
Attention: Ms. Linda Turket
Enclosed is our work plan to perform a limited subsurface soil investigation as a part of an
environmental compliance assessment of the Fresh Start Bakeries located at 920 North Shaw Road,
Stockton, California.
The objectives of the project will be to evaluate the site for the presence of subsurface
contamination from current or previous operations conducted at the facility. The findings of this
assessment will be used to determine whether soil sampling is warranted, tentatively identify soil
sampling locations, depths, and analytical methods to be performed. As was discussed on the
phone, because the need to perform soil sampling will be dictated by site conditions, interviews
with site personnel, and information obtained by local agencies, at present we do not know the
number, location, or depth of the soil borings. We do not anticipate that the borings will be deeper
than 30 feet, preliminary information indicates that groundwater in the site area is approximately
60 feet below ground surface. The work to be done, in general, is as follows:
Dam
• Review historical aerial photographs in Sacramento
• Visit local building and fire departments for permits or other records on the site
• Perform a site walk, staff interviews
0 Review of facility plans and documents
0 Mark proposed boring locations
Days Two and Three
• Clear proposed boring locations for utilities
0 Drill and sample
• Ship samples to analytical laboratory.
200 CITADEL DRIVE•LOS ANGELES,CA 90040
(213)889-5300•FAX(213)721-6700
ONE OF THE LAW COMPANIES
