Fresh Start Bakeries -Subsurface coil Assessment Work Plan July 18, 1994
Law/Crandall Project 2703.40538.0031 Final
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Law/Crandall, Inc., is pleased to submit this work plan which outlines the limited subsurface soil
assessment work to be performed at the Fresh Start Bakeries at 920 North Shaw Road, Stockton,
California.
1.1 PROJECT BACKGROUND
The subject site is currently in use as a bakery. Preliminary information indicates that the site was
undeveloped until the construction of the Fresh Start Bakeries facility in 1987. Building records
will be reviewed to confirm this information. Three active clarifiers and a septic leach field system
are present at the facility.
1.2 OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE
An environmental compliance assessment to include a limited subsurface soil sampling and analysis
program was requested for the site. The number, location and depth of the soil borings, if any, are
to be determined in the field, based on local agency records, site conditions, and interviews with
facility personnel. The soil samples were requested to be taken in locations where the
environmental assessment indicates a potential for subsurface contamination to have occurred from
current or previous site uses. The purpose is to have an environmental assessment report for the
property that does not leave issues, or potential issues unresolved. The proposed work is
summarized as follows:
• Prepare this work plan and a Health and Safety plan.
• Perform an environmental assessment consisting of a review of the
history of the property, current operations and conditions, and
agency toxics and hazardous waste databases.
• Conduct a geophysical survey to locate subsurface utility lines on
the property.
• Drill and sample soil borings (estimate of eight).
• Hand augur and sample soil (estimate of 6).
1
