Q
Limited Phase 11 Subsurface Investigation Report
902-908 East Scotts Avenue
Stockton,California a ntea g ro u p
Antea Group Project No. UPR82572A
accompanying chain of custody form, on which Antea Group directed the laboratory to analyze the soil samples for
one or more of the following:
• Gasoline range organics (GRO) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by Environmental Protection
Agency(EPA) Method 826013;
• Polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) by EPA Method 8270C SIM;
• Diesel range organics(DRO)and motor oil range organics(MORO) by EPA Method 8015;
• Poly-chlorinated biphenyls(PCBs) by EPA Method 8082;
• CAM 17 metals(antimony,arsenic, barium, beryllium,cadmium, chromium, cobalt,copper, lead, mercury,
molybdenum, nickel,selenium,silver,thallium,vanadium, &zinc) by EPA Method 601013/7400;and
• Pesticides by EPA Method 8081.
The requested chemical analyses varied from boring to boring and were determined by evaluating the most likely
contaminants expected in each area of concern. Results are discussed below in Section 3.3. The certified
laboratory analytical reports and chain of custody are included in Appendix C.
3.2.4 Soil Boring Destruction
Cascade abandoned each soil boring by backfilling with cement grout to within six inches of the surface, before
capping each location with concrete or asphalt to match the surrounding surface. Cascade grouted the borings per
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department requirements.
3.2.5 Waste Disposal
Cascade personnel collected all soil cuttings generated during boring completion and sampling activities into two
Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved drums. The drums were sealed, labeled, and left onsite pending
characterization and ultimate removal/disposal by United Pumping Service, Inc., a licensed waste contractor.
Antea Group has submitted a copy of the soil analytical results from this investigation to United Pumping for waste
profiling,characterization, and proper disposal.
3.3 Soil Sample Analytical Results and Discussion
TestAmerica reported the soil results for the 32 soil samples submitted in laboratory report Job I.D. 720-41618-1,
dated April 26, 2012, along with supplemental report 720-41618-2 dated May 21, 2012 (Appendix C). The
following sections summarize the soil results by contaminant of concern. Refer to Tables 1 through 4 for
summaries of the soil analytical results and comparison to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Region 9 Industrial Regional Screening Levels (RSLs),which are used for comparison given the site and surrounding
area's industrial zoning and usage. In addition, the detections are compared to the construction and trench
worker scenario Direct Exposure Soil Screening Levels(SSLs), as referenced in the California Regional Water Quality
Board-San Francisco Bay Region's Screening for Environmental Concerns at Sites with Contaminated Soil and
6 www.anteagroup.com
