i
the field using a photoionization detector to evaluate for the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons
and help select samples to be submitted for analysis.
Chemical Analysis
A total of two soil samples will be submitted to McCampbell Analytical for quantitative analysis
of petroleum hydrocarbons by EPA Method 8015, and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
xylenes, (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020. McCampbell analytical is certified by the State of
California to perform the requested analyses.
Investigation Derived Waste
Soil cuttings will be placed in 55-gallon drums, marked, and stored on site pending analysis.
Drums will be stored adjacent to the existing AST's in a convenient location. Based on the
results of the soil analyses CKG will work with Owens-Brockway to properly manage the soil
h
cuttings.
Subsurface Investigation Report
CKG will prepare a Subsurface Investigation Report that follows the guidelines set forth in the
"Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of
Underground Tank Sites". The report will include the following elements:
• A discussion of the work performed and methodology of the work
• Tables and plates summarizing the data
• Conclusions regarding the presence and intensity of petroleum hydrocarbon impact.
• Boring log
• Analytical laboratory report
LIMITATIONS !
This work plan was prepared in general accordance with the accepted standard of practice which
exists in Northern California at the time the work plan was prepared. It should be recognized that
definition and evaluation of environmental conditions is a difficult and inexact art. Judgments
leading to conclusions and recommendations are generally made with an incomplete knowledge of
the conditions present. More extensive studies, including additional environmental investigations,
can tend to reduce the inherent uncertainties associated with such studies.
This work plan may be used only by the client and only for the purposes stated, within a
reasonable time from its issuance. Land use, site conditions (both onsite and offsite) or other
factors may change over time, and additional work may be required with the passage of time.
Owens-Brockway Tracy Work Plan Page 5 November 14,2001
CKG Environmental,Inc.
S
t
r
