r •j � - <br /> APPENDIX I <br /> EXCAVATION MASS &VOLUME CALCULATIONS <br /> Masonite (Former Prem Dor) <br /> 433 West Scotts Avenue, Stockton CA <br /> Excavation Assumptions: <br /> • Based on weight tags issued by Forward Landfill (Soil Excavation and Disposal Report, <br /> dated 26 September 2007),a total of 521.22 tons of petroleum-impacted soil was excavated <br /> from the former UST area and disposed of at Forward Landfill. <br /> • 1 ton is equivalent to 0.80 cubic yards, so 521.22 tons is equal to 417 cubic yards. <br /> • 1 cubic yard is equal to 27 cubic feet, so 417 cubic yards is equal to 11,259 cubic feet. <br /> • 1 cubic foot of soil is approximately equal to 100 lbs. of soil, so 11,259 cubic feet is equal <br /> to 1,125,900 pounds of soil. <br /> The volume of excavated total petroleum hydrocarbons can be calculated by the formula: <br /> V =typical weight of soil • average concentration of contaminant <br /> The average TPH concentration in excavated soil was estimated by summing the following TPH <br /> concentrations: <br /> • Soil samples from historical borings within the excavation area: <br /> 2,500 mg/kg(B1-20) +22,000 mg/kg (132-15) <br /> • Soil samples from former UST removals: <br /> 1,700 mg/kg(TK1-9)+4,700 mg/kg (TK2-10) <br /> • Soil samples from excavation floor and sidewalls samples: <br /> <1 mg/kg+ 100 mg/kg+ 1,100 mg/kg+2,200 mg/kg+2,000 mg/kg+ 1,200 <br /> mg/kg + 50 mg/kg + 1 mg/kg+ 17 mg/kg <br /> • Soil samples from 4-point,composite excavation stockpile samples: <br /> 3,300 mg/kg (5-1,2,3,4-LF) <br /> -� 2,500 mg/kg +22,000 mg/kg+ 1,700 mg/kg +4,700 mg/kg +3,300 mg/kg <br /> + ND + 100 mg/kg + 1,100 mg/kg + 2,200 mg/kg + 2,000 mg/kg + 1,200 <br /> mg/kg + 50 mg/kg + 1 mg/kg+ 17 mg/kg/ 14 samples <br /> -4 average TPH concentration=2,919 mg/kg <br /> Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc. <br />
