MICK HARDIN
The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company
Manager Environmental Remediation
740 East Carnegie Drive
San Bernadino, CA 92408
Re: Letter received 03-06-96 with reference to underground tank removal.
Dear Mr. Hardin,
My phone conversation with ERM-West was not quite the same as yours. I
have always allowed access to my property on request. This time ERM-West was also
allowed entry on request. They were also told that the gates were hard to roll open,
but with a little effort, they would roll. They were also told that the property had been
cleaned and leveled for sale.
They decided that the gates were too much trouble to roll and swung them open
and damaged the gate. They also drove a large truck accross the property, got stuck,
left large ruts and in general made a mess.
My only request to ERM-West was that they fix the gate and level the mess
they made before they would be allowed back on the property. I also offered to fix the
gate, which I have since done and level the yard and send them the bill for those
services.
We are not of the opinion that it is unreasonable to ask that damage done by
your consulting firm be corrected before they proceed to do more.
I have no problem with your consultant finishing their work, but I also don't
think that my request to take care of damages can be taken as not cordial.
i
Sincerely,
i
G/G i
La illiams
President
L.
