Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
Re: Risk Assessment for the Santa Fe Railway Company Site in Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Knoll:
ChemRisk® is pleased to present three copies of the Risk Assessment for the Santa Fe
Railway Company Site in Stockton, California.
The results of the fate and transport evaluation show that the hydrocarbons in the site soil
have only a limited migration potential. Using conservative assumptions, the petroleum
hydrocarbons were predicted to migrate less than one foot over a 99-year period. Therefore,
ChemRisk®concludes that the presence of the petroleum hydrocarbons in soil beneath the site
can safely remain in place because they do not pose a threat to either groundwater resources
or human health.
I would like to meet with you to discuss the risk assessment and will call you next week to set
up an appointment. Should you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate
to contact Tina Deseran, John Stellar, or me at (818) 841-0606.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Sullivan, Ph.D.
Principal Health Scientist
G:\0600717\52693W2.1VVcss105.26.93
Enclosures
