Mr. Harlin Knoll April 29, 1991
• Collection-of additional-soil samples for soil density
determinations, and
•
Preparation---of a-brief report of the findings of the additional
investigation to be designated as Appendix K of the March 1991
Site Assessment Report.
Figure A-1 shows the locations of the proposed borings. -Boring 11 will be
installed to determine the maximum depth;of occurrence of the product
identified in the August 1989 soil investigation. We estimate that the total
depth of this boring will--be 40 to 45 feet. Two-soil samples for laboratory
analysis will be-submitted-from Boring 11. One sample will'be submitted for
purposes-of further waste characterization.. This sample will be analyzed
for TPH, BTXl , and fish:bioassay. The other.sample will be a clean
confirmation sample from.the bottom--of the tole to be analyzed for TPH.
Borings 12and 13-will be_installed to confirm the lateral extent of the
product affected soil on the eastern perimeter of the original borings
installed in August 1989. These borings are not expected to encounter any
product affected soil. Any product affected soil encountered in Borings 12
and 13 will-be noted on the boring logs. In addition, one clean confirmation
sample will be collected from the bottom of the borehole from each of
Borings 12 and 13 and-analyzed for TPH.
Procedures.for boring installation, _sample-collection and handling, and
boring abandonment will be as previously described in the Workplan.
A-2
