5. A message appears allowing the option to change the default directory: <br /> "C:\PDRCOM". It is advisable to leave the default directory (unless you address the <br /> hard drive by a different letter),and select OK. <br /> 6. After a successful installation, the message "Installation Complete!" will appear. <br /> 9.3 Communication Between personalDataRAM and Computer <br /> To effect the communication between the personalDataRAM (via the pDR-COM <br /> software installed in the computer as described in the preceding section) and the PC <br /> proceed as follows: <br /> 1. Connect the personalDataRAM to one of the computer's serial ports using the <br /> pDR-DCC cable provided by MIE. This cable has a 9-pin female connector for the <br /> computer port. <br /> 2. Key ON the personalDataRAM and then key NEXT repeatedly until CONNECT TO PC <br /> is displayed on the personalDataRAM. <br /> 3. On the computer, double click on the pDR-COM icon.A four-tabbed notebook <br /> display should appear. Click on the Com Port Select and select the port to which the <br /> pDR-DCC cable has been connected. <br /> 4. From the four-tabbed notebook displayed on the computer screen select the tab <br /> with the desired option. The options are: <br /> • Main: This page allows the user to input the personalDataRAM serial number (or <br /> any other desired label), and select the Serial Com Port. <br /> • Logged data: This page allows the user to download,tabulate,print data, or <br /> transfer to a CSV file the data stored in the personalDataRAM.This page also <br /> serves to display real-time numerical data when the computer is connected to the <br /> personalDataRAM in the Run Mode. <br /> • Graph data: This page enables the downloading and graphing of stored data to <br /> the computer screen and to a printer. In the Run Mode, this page displays the real- <br /> time data in graphic format. <br /> • Configure pDR:This screen allows the user to edit the operating/logging <br /> parameters. Click on the item to be edited and select or type in the new value. <br /> To review the parameter values currently programmed into the personalDataRAM, <br /> click on Get configuration. After editing the parameters, click on Set configuration <br /> to input the new values into the personalDataRAM program. <br /> 24 <br />
