(ATC) has prepared this workplan to conduct a soil vapor survey at the
above referenced site. The purpose of the soil vapor survey is to evaluate the potential for vapor
intrusion hazards from subsurface soil and/or groundwater beneath the site between the source
area and nearby structures. This work was directed by the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department (SJCEHD) through correspondence dated October 11, 2007.
The scope of work includes installing six temporary soil vapor probes; analyses of soil vapor
samples; comparing soil vapor analytical results to Environmental Screening Levels (ESLs) as
provided by the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) San Francisco Bay Region,
and preparing an investigation report detailing site activities. The scope of work is described in
detail in the following paragraphs.
SITE LOCATION
The site is located west of Stockton Street and south of West Second Street in Ripon, California,
as shown on Figure 1. The location is a mixed commercial and residential area. The site is
currently occupied by Leo's Auto Service.
BACKGROUND
In March 1991, three underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the site. Analyses
of soil samples collected from the excavation indicated high concentrations of petroleum
hydrocarbons were present in soil beneath the tanks. Groundwater was not encountered in the —
excavation. The location of the former USTs are shown on Figure 2.
In July 1993, a subsurface investigation was conducted at the site to determine the extent of
petroleum hydrocarbons present in soil and to determine if groundwater had been impacted.
