1
Working To Restore Nature
GROUNDWATER FLOW DIRECTION
Water level measurements were collected from wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 on Pune 2, 1994
' Water levels ranged from 28.06 to 28.43 feet below the tops of the well casing elevations,
representing an average decrease in the water table elevation of approximately 0.80 feet since
March 1994 The water level data were used to develop the groundwater elevation contour map
(Plate 3). Assuming that horizontal isotropic conditions prevail, groundwater in the uppermost
' aquifer beneath the site flowed in a southeast direction. The hydraulic gradient on June 2, 1994
was calculated to be 0.02 ft/ft or 102 ft/mile A summary of groundwater monitoring data is
presented in Table 2.
CONCLUSIONS
Petroleum hydrocarbon analytes remained non-detectable in the groundwater sample collected
from well MW-1. Concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon analytes increased in well MW-2
Concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon analytes remained the same order of magnitude or
decreased slightly in well MW-3 since the last monitoring episode in March 1994.
1 The direction of groundwater flow has changed approximately 90 degrees and the magnitude of
hydraulic gradient has increased since March 1994. This may be due to the site's proximity to
the Stanislaus River and seasonal changes Groundwater elevations have decreased due to
seasonal conditions.
1 RECONIlMIENDATIONS
Based on the results of the second quarter 1994 monitoring episode, we recommend continued
quarterly monitoring at the site.
1
' 1500781QUARTLYI2QR-1994 FNL 3
