vertical and lateral extent of the hydrocarbon impacted sods in the vicinity of the former
gasoline underground storage tank cluster and dispenser AGI's Scope of Work for the
project follows
Locating underground utilities using Thiemann's Services as-built
drawings (if available), as well as, Underground Service Alert (U S A ),
* Advancing up to six (6) soil bonngs in the vicinity of the former
underground gasoline storage tanks,
* The six (6) bonngs were to be advanced to depths of 50 feet, ten feet of
unimpacted soil, auger refusal, or encountering groundwater,
Steam cleaning of all drilling and sampling equipment prior to and
between each boring to avoid cross-contamination,
* Collecting soil samples at depths to be evaluated in the field. Initially,
samples were to be collected at approximately five foot intervals beginning
at five feet and continuing until total depth The samples were to be
collected using a standard California split-spoon sampler equipped with
brass tubes, steam cleaned prior to use These samples were to be field
screened and selected samples were to be chosen for chemical analyses,
* Field Screening was to be accomplished using a photo-ionizing detector
(PID) equipped with a 10 0 eV lamp ora flame-ionizing detector (FID) Soil
samples were to be placed in mason jars to approximately 50% capacity,
shaken, and let stand for approximately 15 minutes A standard
headspace reading was to be collected at this time,
* Soil samples collected for chemical analyses were to be collected in brass
tubes and sealed with teflon, end caps and tape The sealed tubes were to
be placed in a cooler at 40 centigrade and transported to a DHS certified
laboratory under chain of custody procedures,
Analysis of approximately thirty (30) soil samples for Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons as gasoline and volatile aromatics using DOHS LUFT/EPA
Methods 8015 modified and 8020, respectively,
Prepare field boring logs,
* Prepare a written report summarizing the results of the investigation with
conclusions and recommendations, certified by a California Registered
Geologist
. 5of17
