A S S O C I A T E S I N C <br /> r <br /> Summary Report of <br /> Additional Subsurface Investigation <br /> 1 Thiemann Property <br /> 106 West Second Street <br /> Ripon, California <br /> ATC Project No 62605 0001 <br /> 1 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> 1 ATC Associates Inc has prepared this letter report, on behalf of Mr Gerald Thiemann to <br /> summarize findings of the subsurface investigation performed at the Thiemann Property located at <br /> 1 106 West Second Street in Ripon, California (Figure 1) The purpose of the subsurface <br /> investigation was to evaluate the extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil and <br /> groundwater This work was done at the request of San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br /> 1 Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) The findings of the subsurface investigative study <br /> are summarized in the following paragraphs <br /> 1.1 Site Location <br /> 1 The site is located on the south side of West Second Street and the west side of Stockton Street <br /> in Ripon, California, as shown on Figure 1 The location is a commercial and residential area and <br /> the site is currently occupied by Thiemann's Service <br /> 1 1.2 Backeround <br /> In March 1991, three underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the site Analysis of <br /> soil samples collected from the excavation indicated that high concentrations of petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons were present in soil beneath the tanks Groundwater was not encountered in the <br />' excavation The location of the former UST's is shown on Figure 2 <br /> In July 1993, a subsurface investigation was conducted at the site to determine the extent of <br /> 1 petroleum hydrocarbons present in soil and to determine if groundwater had been impacted This <br /> included drilling eight soil borings and collecting soil samples Three of these bonngs were <br /> completed as shallow groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3) Analysis of soil <br /> 1 samples indicated that the majority of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil were present from about 10 <br /> feet below ground surface (bgs) to groundwater at a depth of approximately 29 feet bgs and <br /> within a radius of 35 feet from the former UST pit <br /> In August 1993, wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 were monitored and sampled Analytical results <br /> showed that MW-1 had no measurable concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons in the <br /> w 162605Vepodslsum doc 1 <br />
