Soil Vapor Extraction Feasibility Testing Work Plan
LAGORIO-ACE TOMATO
5458 Section Road, Stockton, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr. Dean Janssen,.ldvanred GcoEnvironmental, Inc. (AG) has prepared this soil
vapor extraction feasibility work plan for Lagorio-Ace Tomato, located at 5458 Section Road,
Stockton, Caldornia (site). The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1. A plan of the site is
illustrated on Fitiure 2.
The San Joaquin County Public Health Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) has
directed by letter dated 22 October 2001, the preparation of a work plan to assess the subsurface for
methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) related to former underground storage tanks (USTs) at the site.
This work plan is prepared in accordance with PHS-EHD directives and Central Valley Regionai
Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) guidelines for the investigation of UST sites.
The purpose of the proposed investigation is to assess the MTBE-impacted soil beneath the former
UST system by waste extraction testing (WET) analysis of soil samples and completion ofi soil
vapor extraction feasibility pilot test. This work plan provides a description of the scope of work and
procedures for the additives site investigation and feasibility testing.
2.0. BACKGROUND
The property is situated within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of California, a Large,
elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric structural trough. The Great Valley Province has been
filled with thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from Jurassic to Recent, creating a neariv flat-
lying alluvial plain, extending from the Tchachapi Mountains in the south to the Klamath Mountains
in the north. The western and eastern boundaries of this province are comprised of the California
Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada, respectively. Rocks composing the basement complex of the
province have not been completely defined but are believed to be metamorphic and igneous in origin.
The northern and southern portions of the Great Valley Province have been designated the
Sacramento and. San Joaquin Valleys, respectively.
The estimated depth to ground water at the site is between 60 and 70 feet below surface grade (bsg)
based on information from Lines of Equal Elevation of Groundwater - Lines of F_clual Depth to
Groundwater Fall 1997, published by the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water
Conservation District. Based on review of a regional ground water elevation map also published by
San Joaquin County, the prevailing ground water flow direction near the site is generally toward the
south-southeast, althou,h flow directions may be both locally and seasonably influenced by changing
recharge and discharge conditions.
Advanced GeoEnvirnnmental.Inc.
