11 November 2002
• AGE-NC Project No 98-0511
IPage 3 of 4
3 2 RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLE ANALYSIS
TPH-g was detected In the ground water samples collected from MW-1, MW-3 and MW-5 at
concentrations of 220 micrograms per liter (µg/l), 170 µg/1 and 900 µg/l, respectively BTEX
compounds were detected in MW-1 at concentrations of 16 µg/1, 8 0 µg/l, 21 µg/l and 83 µg/1,
respectively, benzene and ethylbenze were detected in MW-5 at concentrations of 6 5 µg/1 and
11 gg/l, respectively
' Utilizing EPA Method 8260B, MTBE was detected in the ground water samples collected from
MW-1, MW-3 and MW-5 at concentrations of 3 0 µg/l, 19 µg/1 and 91 µg/1, respectively No other
' fuel oxygenated compounds were detected above laboratory reporting limits
Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized on Tables 2 and 3 The Inferred lateral
Idistribution of TPH-g,benzene and MTBE is Illustrated on Figure 4 Copies of the laboratory report
(Cal Tech Laboratory IDs 0209-182-1 through 0209-182-7)and chain-of-custody forms are provided
' in Appendix B
• 4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based upon data collected from the site, AGE concludes the following
l • On 26 September 2002 the ground water elevation in the monitored area averaged 0 14 feet
above mean sea level, ground water has decreased approximately 4 3 feet since the previous
' quarter The ground water flow direction was Inferred to be generally westward under a
gradient ranging from 0 001 ft/ft to 0 002 ft/ft
• TPH-g was detected in ground water samples MW-1, MW-3 and MW-5 at concentrations
as high as 900µg/1(MW-5) BTEX compounds were detected in samples MW-1 and MW-5
at concentrations as high as 16 µg/1, 8 0 µg/l, 21 µg/1 and 83 µg/l, respectively (MW-1)
BTEX constituents were not detected in samples collected from the other six monitoring
wells
• MTBE was detected in samples MW-1,MW-3 and MW-5 at concentrations between 3 0µg/1
and 91 µg/l(MW-5),these concentrations are above the DHS Maximum Contaminant Level
(13 µg/1) for MTBE in drinking water
• Hydrocarbon-impacted ground water is not defined vertically and laterally along the east side
of the site
Advanced GeoEnviron nental,Inc
