08 December 2004
• AGE-NC Project No 98-0511
3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation and flow direction were determined from field data Hydrocarbon Impact
to ground water was inferred from laboratory analysis of ground water samples
3 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
For the May 2004 ground water monitoring event, the elevation of ground water In each well was
calculated by subtracting the depth to ground water from the surveyed casing elevation (Table 1)
Depths to ground water ranged from 15 83 feet to 16 65 feet below the tops of the well casings
Ground water elevations at the site ranged from 1 38 feet above MSL in well MW-7 to 2 0 feet above
MSL in wells MW-I and MW-2 Ground water at the site was inferred to flow generally toward the
west-southwest (Figure 3) under a hydraulic gradient of approximately 0 004 foot/foot (ft/fl) to
0 006 ft/fl
I
I3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in ground water samples collected from monitoring wells MW-I and MW-5 at
concentrations of 32,000 micrograms per liter (µg/1) and 170 gg/l, respectively Benzene was
detected In samples MW-1 and MW-5 at concentrations of 200 µg/l and 24 µg/l, respectively
Toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes were detected in sample MWA at concentrations of
I 130 µg/l, 530 µg/l and 2,860 µg/1, respectively Toluene was detected in sample MW-5 at a
concentration of 5 2 µg/1 TPH-g and BTEX compounds were not detected In samples collected from
wells MW-2 through MW-4 and MW-6 through MW-8
Utilizing EPA Method 8260B, MTBE was detected in the ground water sample collected from
MW-5 at a concentration of 38 µg11 Fuel additives were not detected above laboratory reporting
I limits in ground water samples collected from monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-4 and MW-6
through MW-8
I Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized in Tables 2 and 3 The Inferred lateral
distributions of TPH-g and benzene are Illustrated on Figures 5 and 6, respectively Copies of the
laboratory report(CTEL Project No CT214-0405150), quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC)
Ireports and chain of custody forms are provided in Appendix C Documents confirming the upload
of laboratory electronic deliverable format (EDF) files and depth to water measurements to
GeoTracker are provided in Appendix D
I
Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc
