There are a number of investigative methodologies that can
be used including but not limited to: excavation, soil borings and monitoring wells installed
using a hollow stem auger, or soil borings and grab groundwater samples using push point
technology. The purpose of the investigation is to determine the vertical and horizontal extent
of the soil and groundwater contamination. It is possible that the contamination is very limited
and will not require remediation; however, should the results of this preliminary investigation
indicate more extensive contamination, additional investigation and/or remediation will be
required.
Please submit by June 16, 1997 a work plan to initiate the investigation. If you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, Director, REHS
Environmental Health Division
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Margar Lagorio, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor=
cc: Elizabeth Thayer, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
