In
addition, a Remedial Action Plan (RAP) Addendum will be prepared, if
necessary, based upon the results of the delineation activities. This document
provides a summary of the activities completed to date and our proposed
scope of work and estimated costs for the additional site delineation and RAP
addendum, if necessary.
INTRODUCTION
Delta has installed and operated an approved soil and groundwater
DELTA remediation system at the site under the following timeline:
Feb-Mar 2004: A remediation system was installed at the site as
indicated by the layout on Figure 7.The system consisted of air sparging
(AS) in conjunction with soil vapor extraction (SVE). Initially, a trailer-
mounted internal combustion engine (ICE) unit, which also destroyed
hydrocarbon vapors recovered from the subsurface, provided vacuum for
the SVE system. SVE system operations were initiated in March 2004.
Apr 2005: Operations of the AS-SVE Remediation System were
suspended and the ICE unit was removed while an updated Authority to
Construct application was prepared and submitted to the San Joaquin
Valley Air Pollution Control District(SJVAPCD).
Dec 2005: Began installation of an upgraded configuration, which
included an AS-SVE skid system, selected to increase the capacity of
the SVE flow rates, and in tum, allow full operation of all existing SVE
wells. With all SVE wells in operation, AS operations would be increased
to maximum levels. Recovered vapors were treated via thermal/catalytic
oxidizer.
Jan 2006: Operations of the upgraded system were initiated. All five
vapor extraction (VE) wells were put into operation with the newer,
larger-capacity equipment.
Sen 2006: The AS-SVE System was shut down pending another
Modification Application to the SJVAPCD, which proposed removing the
oxidizer unit and replacing it with granular-activated carbon (GAC)
vessels.
xtnogen, .
9004 Mountain Ridge Drive, Suite 110 Austin, TX 76759 USA
Phone, 512-990-7467/800-477-7411 Fax: 512-990--7399
