ADVANCED GEOENVIRONMENTAL, INC <br /> FIELD PROCEDURES FOR <br /> GROUNDWATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING <br /> FIELD PROCEDURES AND PROTOCOLS <br /> ' AGE conducted the monitoring event in accordance with guidelines established by the CV-RWQCB <br /> and the PHS-EHD <br /> ' GROUND WATER ELEVATION MONITORING <br /> ' On 06 March 2001, a Sollnst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in <br /> ground water monitoring wells MW-1, NIW-2, MW-3, MW-3A, MW-3D, MW-4 through MW-13, <br /> MW-13A and MW-13B relative to the tops of the well casings Groundwater elevation in each well <br /> ' was determined from these data (Table 1) Ground water elevation contours are illustrated on <br /> Figure 1 <br /> ' WELL PURGING <br /> On 06 and 07 March 2001 monitoring wells were purged of standing water by utilizing a down-hole <br /> pump The down-hole pump was decontaminated prior to insertion in each well as described below <br /> Approximately 6 to 86 gallons of water were removed from each of the wells (a minimum of 3 <br /> ' casing-water volumes per well) Ground water temperature, pH and conductivity were measured at <br /> regular purge-volume intervals using ICM and Hydac water analyzers Field sheets and data are <br /> ' included in Appendix A Purged water was stored on-site in labeled, 55-gallon DOT-approved <br /> drums <br /> ' SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS <br /> Water samples were collected from each purged well using new disposable plastic bailers These pre- <br /> cleaned bailers are disposed of after one use, thereby minimizing cross contamination due to <br /> sampling devices The samples were drawn and collected in such a manner that agitation and <br /> ' exposure of the groundwater to the atmosphere was minimal Sample containers were filled using <br /> the appropriate disposable sampling attachment which allows controlled flow out of the bottom of <br /> the bailer A sample was also collected from the third decontamination water stage for quality <br /> control/quality assurance <br /> Each water sample was transferred into 40-ml VOA vials containing 0 S ml I S% hydrochloric acid <br /> ' as a sample preservative After collection, the samples were properly labeled, placed in a chilled <br /> container and transported under chain-of-custody to McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI), a State of <br /> California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified analytical laboratory The samples were <br /> Advanced GeoEnvi romitent J,Inc <br /> 1 <br />
