Finucane, PE, EP, CSP, CIH Ef�ViRUNilI f HEALTH Q PERMIT/SERVICES Subject: Report#021201-L, concerning the determination of the levels, if any, of residual toxic or hazardous contamination remains in the home located at: 24876 Sutternfield Road Acampo, CA 95220 The above referenced structure was raided by Narcotics Officers who had been advised at the time of their action that portions of this unit had been functioning as a"Drug Lab," most probably for the manufacture of methamphetamines or"Crank." Because of the nature and the inherent dangers asso- ciated with clandestine drug manufacturing, and because a number of toxic chemicals are routinely used during these types of operations, concerri remained about.the possibility that hazardous and/or toxic residues might still exist at this location. On the morning of Thursday, 12 December 2002, I monitored the ambient air in all the areas of this structure. In completing this monitoring:task, I used two analytical instruments that had been calibra- tion checked on the previous afternoon, namely, Wednesday, 11 December 2002. These two instru- ments are capable of detecting and quantifying low concentration levels (0.01 —0.10 ppm) of all the volatile solvents commonly used in the manufacture of illicit drugs. In order, I monitored for: (1) ace- tone, (2) dichloromethane, (3) isopropanol, (4) methanol, (5) toluene, (6) chloroform, and finally, (7) 1,1,1-trichloroethane. I was able to determine that every area within this unit was clear of hazardous or toxic levels of the vapors of each of these seven chemicals. In addition, I checked this structure's most likely chemicals disposal locations. In these checks,I looked for signs of acidic or alkaline residues. None of the areas I checked showed any evidence of these types of residues, or of any other toxic contamination. It is my judgment that none of the interior portions of this house pose any health hazard from toxic residues or chemicals to anyone who would be required to be in any part of it.
