Sierra Nevada
Stockton, CA
A meeting was held at San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) offices on August 20, 1993
regarding further investigation of the above referenced site. In
attendance were Ron Bruno, representing the estate of Angelo
Rolleri, Vic Cherven and Bob Marty, representing Geological Audit
Services, Inc. , and Margaret Lagorio representing PHS/EHD.
The site vapor extraction system has not been in operation since
the end of July 1993 . Geological Audit stated in the site
quarterly report dated July 30, 1993, that the "rate of decline of
vapor concentrations has decreased considerably over time and is
now almost flat" and that continued operation "is unlikely to
result in significant further reductions in hydrocarbon
contamination" .
PHS/EHD has been previously informed that vapor extraction systems
should be turned off periodically to allow any soil vapors to move
into the area of influence of the system. It was decided at the
meeting that the vapor extraction system would be put back into
operation about September 20, 1993 to see if vapor concentrations
rise in the system after a period of shut down.
PHS/EHD recommends that confirmation soil sampling occur at the
same time as replacement of monitoring wells. All existing
monitoring wells for this site are dry and the total depth of all
existing wells is 55 feet below ground surface (bgs) . Groundwater
level in this area is currently about 69 feet bgs. Even with
normal or above normal rainfall it is not expected that groundwater
levels would rise sufficiently to be able to obtain water samples
from the current wells for several years.
PHS/EHD understands that the estate has expended considerable funds
to date on this site and that reimbursement from the State Water
Resources Control Board Cleanup Fund Program is pending.
A Division of-%a Joaquin County Hnhh(,rc scmices
