The problem
of storage of purge water had never been encountered before. To
be on the safe side itIlwas decided to obtain a permit to cover
the 55 gallon drums with the free product. An application was
completed with the Fire Dept. , but up to this time we have heard
nothing. 'Flammable material tags were placed on the 55 gallon
drums. E1
i
A plan will be submitted to you for the clean up of existing
saturated soils above the existing groundwater table . It is our
understanding that the.1dry well would have to be drilled by a
contractor with the proper State license. At the present time
we plan to install and finish any other work connected to this
vent hole.
id
For the additional well placement we will contact a qualified
engineer to do the design work. Vie will hire a contractor with
the_,proper li.cese- forll,any work-on .this part, rc quires_a_con _
tractor, Any portion of this work that we candoourselves to cut
expense, we would like:Ithe option to do so.
At this time the water level in M.W. #1 is 47 feet. The
water level in M.W. #2! stands at 47 feet 4 inches. Beginning
April 1, 1989, we willIkeep a weekly log of the water level and
disposition of the free product. At the present time we are
attempting to locate an interface probe for the measurement of
the free product. Thellodor of gasoline at this time in II.W. #1
is very slight. The odor of gasoline in hT.W. #2 is there but at
times is also slight.
The soil classified as clean" soil has been spread as discussed
at our on site meeting!' We have obtained a,. price from Commercial
Salvage Co. to transpoi^t the contaminated soil to Kettleman Hills
Dump. This is an hourly rate from portal to portal and is for a
full load or any part of a load. We ask that the existing barrels
i
I
