Sierra Nevada, Stockton
This letter will terve as a ;summary of our February 8, 1989
meeting with Gordon L. Boggs, Central Valley Regional water
Quality Board in which requirements for the continued groundwater
and soil assessment and remediation for the Bakery were
discussed.
Current "Free-product" gasoline bailing and storage of the same
in 55 gallon drums on-site should be verified with Stockton City
Fire Prevention for acceptable safety and storage co'nditio'ns.
In addition to the product removal, remediation (clean-up) of
existing saturated soils above the groundwater table shall be
addressed. Methods of remediation were discussed during our
meeting. The design and method of selection should adequately
eliminate contaminants in the saturated soils and not create air
quality problems, a common design dilemma.
# The design of the soils remediation work plan can be achieved by
YOU without the expense of professional consultant or engineering
authorship. However, portions of the ,construction of the.
selected design may require the services of licensed contractors.
A second element of the remediation will involve the clean-up of
the groundwater containing dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon
contaminates exceeding recommended State of California drinking
water standards and Regional, Water Board ' s Water Quality
Standards.
Groundwater design suggestions were discussed during our meeting.
The actual design plan and additional well placement will require
the services of a qualified hydrogeologic professional.
The on-going monitoring of both remediation systems can be
r ! maintained by you or your designated agent. Quarterly reports i
shall be submitted to the San Joaquin Local Health District
i
I
F
i
