f <br /> r <br /> J <br /> • QUARTERLY REPORT <br /> GENOVA BAKERY PROJECT <br /> 749 Sierra Nevada Street <br /> Stockton, California <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> A project to remediate hydrocarbon-contaminated soil at Genova Bakery by vapor <br /> extraction methods has been ongoing since August 1991 The project is being conducted <br /> for the estate of Angelo Rolleri under the supervision of the San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) This report documents <br /> remediation activities through December 1993 and describes activities planned for the first <br /> quarter of 1994 <br /> 2.0 BACKGROUND <br /> 2.1 Contamination Assessment <br />• Assessment of hydrocarbon contamination at this site was completed by Groundwater <br /> Technology, Inc and reported in November 1987 and October 1988 A vapor extraction <br /> system (VES) was installed in August 1991 and was operated under permit requirements <br /> of the San Joaquin Air Pollution Control District order number 91-51 <br /> 2.2 Remediation <br /> Remediation began in 1991, and progress has been summarized in reports submitted in <br /> March 1992 and February 1993 As of the end of 1992, the VES had been in operation for <br /> approximately 8,884 hours, and the mean hydrocarbon vapor concentration at the inlet was <br /> approximately 500 ppm From the end of 1992 to July 1993, the VES was in operation for <br /> approximately 90 percent of the time, bringing the total operational hours to 13,500 A <br /> graph of the PID readings is illustrated in Figure 4 <br /> Vapor samples were collected from the inlet to the combustion engine on February 22 and <br /> April 28, 1993 The results of the samples were described in a Quarterly Report dated July <br /> 17, 1993 <br /> 2.3 Regulatory Meeting <br /> Representatives of GeoAudit met with Mr Ron Bruno of Genova Bakery and Mrs <br />. Margaret Lagorio of PHS/EHD on August 20, 1993, to discuss further assessment and <br /> 1 <br />
