Work Plan to Delineate Soil Contamination in the Ag Chem Area ARCADIS Former Occidental Chemical Corporation Lathrop, California operating procedures(SOPs)for specific tasks commonly performed in the field. Field staff will be familiar with these general SOPs to ensure that field activities are conducted in accordance with ARCADIS'standards. Copies of SOPS for soil boring advancement, soil sample collection, and investigation-derived waste(IDW)handling and storage are included as Appendix B. Site-specific details of field activities are summarized in the following sections. 3.1 Pre-Field Activities Prior to initiating field activities, drilling permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD).ARCADIS will have identified and cleared underground utilities in the drilling area. Underground utilities will be identified by the following three lines of evidence: • Contact Underground Service Alert of Northern California and Nevada at least 48 hours in advance of sampling activities • Obtain detailed site utility plan drawn to scale of the drilling area, if available, and discuss the locations of site utilities with the property owner, Simplot • Conduct a detailed visual site inspection In the event that one or more of the above lines of evidence cannot be obtained or conducted, a minimum of one additional line of evidence will be utilized as appropriate. Additional lines of evidence include(but are not limited to)the following: • Hand-clear the top five feet of each boring using a hand auger to minimize the potential for underground utility strikes • Private utility locating service • Research of state, county, or municipal records • Hydro-knife • Air-knife • Ground penetrating radar(GPR)or radio frequency detector(RFD) IaMrop work plan supple—tat invest ag chem 05012012 cocx 5
