FACILITY
IN LATHROP, SAN JOQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mr. Luxbacher:
The California Dept. of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has received the document titled
"Work Plan to Delineate Soil Contamination in the Ag Chem Area," dated May 1, 2012.
DTSC has reviewed the document and discussed concerns about sample density with
Ms, Liz Sewell of Arcadis, Glenn Spring Holding's (GSH) consultant. DTSC's main concern
was a potential sample gap in between AST 127 and AST 128, which can be seen in
Figure 7 of the work plan. DTSC was concerned that the southern extent of the
contamination between the two tanks may not be adequately characterized by the current
sample locations. Based on phone conversations with Ms. Sewell, this potential gap will be
addressed in the final version of the plan. Based on this understanding, DTSC hereby
approves the work plan and looks forward to working with Arcadis and GSH in moving
forward with the project.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at (916) 255-3801 or at
tolsonlcD_dtsc.ca.gov.
Sincerely,
Thomas Olson
Hazardous Substances Scientist
San Joaquin & Legacy Landfills Office
Brownfields & Environmental Restoration Program
cc: See next page.
S Printed on Recycled Paper
