i
This question is structured to respond to a pit type excavation. Sheet
1 and sheet 2 on the attached plates reflect what is in reality, a grading
and reclamation project. Grading will take place from a high point near
the center of the property to the high water mark of the river on the
north, east and south shores. As previously described, this will
accomplish major reclamation of the site resulting in control of existing
long term erosional problems and hazards. The recontoured site as
reflected on the attached sheets will cause the river to be forced back
into the main channel thereby preventing further degradation of the site
and eliminating the potential threat to downstream configuration and use
of the river. This, in summary, will result in long term stabilization
at the site.
There are no drainages or other water courses on the property.
There are no structures on the property. The only proposed equipment will
be mobile equipment that will be removed upon completion of the project
or during those periods of time when the property is threatened by flood
events.
The decision not to plant vegetation on this site is based on the longer
term maintenance requirements at the site. Vegetation would prevent the
long term grading of the site as now envisioned. This, in turn, would
potentially result in redevelopment of the erosional conditions that now
exist at the site.
26. If applicant plans short-term phasing of reclamation, describe in detail
specific reclamation to be accomplished during first phase.
Reclamation has been described elsewhere in this application.
27. Describe how reclamation of site in this manner may affect future mining
at the site and in the surrounding area.
This question does not appear applicable to this project.
