y Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report
ANGELICA TEXTILE
1145 South Sierra Nevada Street, Stockton, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
y
At the request of Mr. Steve Sanchez of Angelica Textile,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc. (AGE)
has prepared this Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report (PIER) for 1145 South Sierra
Nevada Street, Stockton, California. The scope of work included advancement of two soil borings
and the collection and analysis of soil and ground water samples. The location of the site and its
surroundings are illustrated on Figure 1. Major features and soil boring locations on the site are
illustrated on Figure 2.
This investigation was performed in accordance with guidelines issued by the Central Valley
y
Regional Water Quality Control Board(CVRWQCB) for the investigation of underground storage
tank (UST) sites.
y
2.0. BACKGROUND
i.1
The site is located in a mostly light industrial area of south Stockton, between Wilson Way and
Airport Way(Figure 2). Located adjacent to Mormon Slough, the site is situated in an area of low
topographic relief at an estimated elevation of approximately 25 feet above sea level(Figure 1).The
property is presently occupied by Angelica Textile, an industrial laundry service.
2.1. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING
The site is situated within the southern portion of the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of
California, a large, elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric structural trough; the northern and
southern portions of the Province have been designated the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys,
respectively. The Province is bordered by the Coast Ranges to the west, the Klamath Mountains and
Cascade Range to the north, and the Sierra Nevada to the east.
6.r
The Great Valley has been filled with sediments derived from both marine and continental sources.
Thickness of the sedimentary fill ranges from thin veneers along the valley edges to more than
6, 20,000 feet in the south central portion of the valley. The sedimentary formations range in age from
Jurassic to Recent, with the older deposits being primarily marine in origin and the younger deposits
being primarily continental. Continental-derived sediments were primarily deposited in lacustrine,
y fluvial, and alluvial environments with sediment sources being the mountain ranges surrounding the
valley(Olmsted and Davis, 1961);the site itself is located on unconsolidated and semi-consolidated
alluvium, lake, playa and terrace deposits of Quaternary age (California Division of Mines and
Geology, 1977).Rocks composing the basement complex of the Province have not been completely
defined but are believed to be metamorphic and igneous in origin.
y Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
6r
