Sixth Street
Tracy CA 95376
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(SJC/EHD) has reviewed the report"Soil
and Groundwater Initial Site Assessment'dated April 7, 2003 that was submitted on your behalf by
Wright Environmental Services (Wright)and has the following comments.
The report documents a field investigation that took place in February 2003. Three direct push soil
borings were advanced at the location of two former underground storage tanks that had been
used to store petroleum hydrocarbon fuel. Soil and grab groundwater samples were collected for
analysis. Laboratory analytical results confirmed contaminant impact to both soil and groundwater.
Location and analytical data indicate that the plume has probably migrated onto the property
directly north of the former tank pit area.
The report recommends additional site assessment to determine the extent of the contaminant
plume, including an investigation to the south to rule out offsite sources, and the installation of
groundwater monitoring wells. SJC/EHD agrees with these recommendations. You are directed to
submit a work plan to continue the investigation of the vertical and lateral extent of the documented
contamination and to install groundwater monitoring wells, at this site. The work plan is due July
25, 2003. In addition, a sensitive receptor survey must be conducted that identifies all municipal,
domestic, industrial, agricultural and other wells located within 2000 feet of the site. The survey
must be submitted to SJC/EHD by July 25,2003.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at(209)468-0337.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director ~
Environmental Health Department I
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Nuel C.
