PROPOSAL
HYDROCARBON ABATEMENT PROGRAM
7-ELEVEN STORE, STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
INTRODUCTION
Groundwater Technology, Inc. has been authorized by the
Southland Corporation to continue the ongoing investigation
program for the 7-Eleven Store located at 91.10 Thornton Road in
Stockton, California. The work program outlined below is
designed to compliment previously developed data, collect
additional data needed to delineate the plume extent, predict
it's miaration, and develop and implement a comprehensive
abatement program. Groundwater Technology, Inc. has designed the
program so that each work step is performed as expeditiously as
possible due to the apparent rate of contaminant migration and to
li;nit, to the extent possible, potential public exposure to the
subsurface contawination.
« BACKGROUND
Preliminary hydrogeologic studies conducted for the South-
land Corporation by Groundwater Technology, Inc. have identified
a zone of soil (adsorbed) , groundwater (dissolved), vapor and
free phase hydrocarbon contamination beneath and in the vicinity
of the 7-Eleven Store Stockton site (See Figure 1). The source
of the inadvertent loss was an unleaded product line which has
been shut down since April of 1986. An initial free product
recovery and water treatment system was installed at the site as
a preliminary remedial action measure. To date in excess of 430
gallons of product has been recovered from the water table
surface. A water sampling program has been conducted on domestic
water wells in the vicinity of the site to determine if they
have been impacted. Although initial laboratory results sugges-
1
1
