TO: C. Leland Hall , Director
Environmental Health Division C'
FROM: Laurie Cotulla, Registered Sanitarian
DATE: May 28, 1986
RE: Suspected Unauthorized Release 9110 Thornton Rd., Stockton
On 4-14-86 the Southland Corporation reported a suspected unauthorized release at
their 7-11 Store located at 4110 Thornton Rd., in Stockton detected by precision
testing required by the underground storage tans: regulations. Groundwater
Technology, a geotechnical firm, was hired to perform a site assessment and
verify whether a leak had actually occurred. On 5-6-86' four groundwater monitoring
wells were installed at the facility and free product was detected on the ground-
water at approximately 30 feet below the surface.
In conjunction with remedial actions to remove the contamination and limit its
migration by installation of a recovery system, Southland Corporation, with the
concurrence of the San Joaquin Local Health District staff, will sample several
adjacent domestic wells on Thursday, May 29, 1986, to make sure that no domestic
water supplies have been affected.
This information will update the s:taation with Southland Corporation on Thornton
Road. For further details see 1:,urie Cotulla.
cc: Dr. J. Khanna
Doug 'filhoit, San Joaquin County
Board of Supervisors
LC:jw
