A MUlf-
NMI
a ;
Problem Assessment Report November 20, 1990
Fire Engine Company No. 2, Stockton, California AGS 38009-2
Based on our local evaluations of groundwater flow to the north, we installed well AIW-4
to evaluate the presence of hydrocarbons in the soil and water downgradient of the release.
After developing well MW-4, the groundwater gradient and flow direction using the four
wells was evaluated four times. Table 6 shows the elevations of lite ndwater surface.
Ground-water gradients and flow directions are summarized in Table 7. The groundwater
surface maps are presented in Plates P-25A through P-25D. On May 31, 1990, the : v
direction was evaluated to be to the north - northwest (Plate 25A). The flow direction on
June 27, 1990, was evaluated to be to the northeast - southwest (Plate 25B). On July 16.
1990,the flow direction was evaluated to be toward the northwest-southwest(t';,.;^P-25C).
On July 23, 1990, the flow direction was evaluated to the southeast - northeast (Plate P-
25D).
slo Hydrocarbons in Soil
Concentrations of hydrocarbons in soil samples are presented in Table 8. Laboratory
analyses and Chain of Custody records for soil samples collected from borings B-1 through
B-3 (1988 drilling event) are included in Appendix C. Laboratory analyses and Chain of
Custody records for soil samples collected from borings B-4 through B-9 (1989 drilling
,:vent) are included in Appendix D.
u
i 19
