• Gloves <br /> • Escape Mask <br /> If APRs2 are authorized, a full-face respirator certified by NIOSH under the requirements of 42 <br /> CFR part 84 will be used. An approved organic vapor cartridge (OV) with a High Efficiency <br /> Particulate Air (HEPA) filter is appropriate for use with the anticipated chemical substances and <br /> concentrations. All workers wearing tight fitting respirators will perform a fit-test prior to use to <br /> verify the seal is adequate. The practice of checking the respirator sealing surface each time a <br /> respirator is worn is formalized as the User Seal Check protocol in 29 CFR 1910.134 Appendix B- <br /> 1. The user seal check shall be performed in both positive and negative pressure modes. A <br /> competent individual has determined that all criteria for using this type of respiratory protection <br /> have been met. <br /> NO CHANGES TO THE SPECIFIED LEVEL OF PPE SHALL BE MADE WITHOUT <br /> THE APPROVAL OF THE COMPANY SAFETY OFFICER <br /> F. MONITORING INSTRUMENTS <br /> The following environmental air monitoring instruments shall be used on site at specified intervals. <br /> A Mini-RAE Classic Plus photo-ionization detector (PID) with a 10.68 eV lamp will be used to <br /> continuously (or as needed) monitor vapors in, around, and above the soil boring and sample <br /> preparation locations. <br /> G.
