1260 Graphics Drive <br /> V Modesto California <br /> r w�ianww su "j 11 95351 <br /> 209 579 2221 <br /> t y Fax 209 579 2225 <br /> A S S O C I A T E S I N C <br /> August 12, 1998 <br /> 62574 <br /> Ms Margaret Lagono <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P O Box 388 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201-0388 <br /> Subject Second Quarter 1998 Status Report, Fire Engine Company No 2, 110 West <br /> Sonora Street, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Ms Lagono <br /> This letter report summarizes the results of the environmental investigation conducted during the <br /> second quarter 1998 by ATC Associates Inc at the subject site (Figure 1) The work was <br /> conducted at the request of the City of Stockton, Department of Public Works (City of Stockton) <br /> and included measuring depths to groundwater, collecting groundwater samples from the <br /> monitoring wells for subjective and laboratory analyses, and evaluating the groundwater gradient <br /> and direction of groundwater flow beneath the site <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> In April 1987, a 1,000-gallon unleaded gasoline tank was removed and residual hydrocarbons <br /> were detected in the soil remaining under the former tank In April 1992, a 250-gallon waste oil <br /> tank was removed The locations of the former and existing tanks are shown on Figure 2 In <br /> 1988, the City of Stockton contracted RESNA Industries Inc to conduct a subsurface <br /> investigation to assess the extent of residual hydrocarbons in soil The investigation included <br /> drilling seventeen soil borings, installing five groundwater monitoring wells, five vapor extraction <br /> wells, one piezometer, and one recovery well, collecting and analyzing soil and groundwater <br /> samples, monitoring fluid levels in the wells, performing a groundwater aquifer test, and <br /> performing a soil vapor extraction test <br /> GROUNDWATER MONITORING <br /> On June 3, 1998, an ATC Associates technician measured the water levels in wells MW-1 through <br /> MW-5 and piezometer PZ-1 The water level was not measured in well RW-1 due to a stripped <br /> locking well plug that made the well inaccessible No floating product was noted in any site well <br /> Groundwater monitoring data are summarized in Table 1 <br /> w 162574162574 0119436712QS"8doc 1 <br />
