' Interim Soil Remediation Report <br /> FIRE STATION #2 - South UST Area <br />' 110 West Sonora Street, Stockton, California <br />' 1.0. INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF WORK <br /> At the request of the City of Stockton,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has prepared this <br />' report for the south underground storage tank (UST) area at 110 West Sonora Street, Stockton, <br /> California(the site) The scope of work included additional soil excavation, soil sample collection <br />' and analysis,and disposal of impacted soil The objective is to excavate the remaining hydrocarbon- <br /> impacted soil from beneath the former burn area to facilitate an overall mass reduction of <br /> contaminants The location of the site and its surroundings are illustrated in Figure 1, and structures <br /> I and monitoring and remediation well locations associated with the site are depicted in Figure 2 Site <br /> background information is provided in Appendix A <br /> The work was preformed in accordance with procedures outlined in the AGE-prepared Interim Soil <br /> Remediation WorkPlan,dated 20 August 2002,approved by the San Joaquin County Environmental <br /> Health Department (EHD) by letter dated 03 September 2002 <br /> 2.0. PROCEDURES <br />' Procedures for soil excavation,soil sampling/analysis and soil disposal are outlined below The work <br /> was preformed in accordance with Interim Soil Remediation Work Plan, dated 20 August 2002 and <br /> Iapproved by the EHD by letter dated 03 September 2002 All field procedures were overseen by an <br /> AGE representative under the supervision of a California Registered Geologist <br /> 21 SOIL EXCAVATION <br /> On 11 September 2002, hydrocarbon-impacted soil was removed with an excavator outfitted with <br /> a 2 45-cubic-yard bucket Soil was excavated from beneath the former burn area and fuel dispensing <br />' unit near soil probe borings P1,P2 and P3, stockpiled on-site around the excavation(Figure 2) and <br /> field screened for the presence of volatile organic compounds using an organic vapor meter(OVM) <br /> The dimensions of the excavation were 18-foot (east an t side) by 16-foot (north and south <br /> sides) by 26-foot bsg (vertical depth), approximately275 ards f soil were excavated The open <br /> excavation area was surrounded by caution fencing No AGE or subcontractor personnel was <br /> allowed into the excavation until appropriately sloped <br /> IGround water was encountered within the excavation at a depth of 25 feet bsg after a duration <br /> of48 hours <br /> I <br /> I <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br /> I <br />
